Kakkos Beach Hotel - Adults Only

A lovely, quiet resort that's kept in good shape, and the food really impressed us. The whole team was warm and professional. Manolis, Katerina, and the ladies at the beach bar made things easy and enjoyable each time, and Nina at breakfast was kind and attentive. Looking forward to coming back.

The rocky little coves along the hotel beach made a beautiful spot for snorkeling, with free loungers and umbrellas. We especially liked the Maisonette Sea View studio: the mezzanine bedroom and the sea view in the morning were stunning. There was also a car rental service on site at very reasonable prices. Our room had everything we needed, and the minibar was replenished each day. Even though we arrived around 9 a.m., we got the room just after breakfast thanks to early check-in. The whole team, from reception and the kitchen to the waiters and bartenders, was friendly, attentive, and professional. The restaurant served varied, tasty, well-seasoned meals with something for everyone, and tables were cleared and reset promptly. The bar was efficient, with no long waits, and made delicious, nicely prepared drinks. The hotel more than lived up to its 5 stars and surpassed many others in the same category where we've stayed. We had a fantastic time at Kakkos Beach Hotel and have already told friends it's a great choice for a holiday in south-eastern Crete. One small thing could be better: I'd have liked coffee from a good coffee machine rather than the vending machine.

We found it hard to get a free sunbed at either the beach or the pool. People put towels down to reserve spots, then went away for hours, while staff did nothing about it. This needs better management so guests can actually use the facilities. The hotel itself is lovely, clean, and has good breakfasts and friendly staff. But we were disappointed by the dinner included in our stay at the à la carte restaurant. It's offered once per stay with a reservation, and we're here for five nights. We checked in on Thursday, but by Saturday were told there were no slots left for Monday or Tuesday, and the restaurant is closed on weekends. The hotel doesn't seem to be trying to resolve it, though they could, for example, ask a guest with a longer stay to reschedule. We have a long enough stay but still can't use the benefit. If you're on a shorter visit and counting on this dinner, be aware it may not be available.

We had a fantastic week in a beautiful setting, with superb service and excellent food. There was a wide, high-quality choice at every meal. There was a small mix-up with my booking at check-in, but the hotel staff handled it well. The person I spoke to by phone at Kakkos Reservations, though, was rude, petty, pedantic, and generally unpleasant to deal with.
