La Moara

We had such a kind welcome from the couple who run the hotel, and the food was very good too. It's in a peaceful location, and staying here feels like stepping back into an old traditional manor house. The rooms are cozy and spotless, with lovely decorations, and the shared spaces are comfortable and nicely done. The real place is so much more beautiful than the photos on Google Maps suggest. We picked La Moira Boutique Hotel for one night on our road trip because we wanted a memorable stay in the “Tree Room Danai.” The website made it look like a secluded treehouse, and even knowing it was just 8 square meters and cost more than bigger rooms, we thought the experience would be worth it. But it was close to the other rooms and didn't feel special. It was so small we couldn't fit both suitcases, so we brought only one. It didn't feel worth the price. We were pleasantly surprised by the backyard pool, and the hotel sits in a stunning location. You can see the care and “meraki” in the design. The balcony attached to Danai is over the backyard, above a bar and pool that weren't shown in the photos. The chairs weren't comfortable for lingering, and we could hear noise from other rooms clearly. At 7:20 a.m., a family next door woke us with a loud breakfast on their balcony. The father was kind and helpful in most of our communication before and during the stay. His son, though, was rude and unhelpful when we asked for things. At checkout we asked for a receipt, but he gave us wrong information, which his father later corrected by email. We didn't eat lunch or dinner at the hotel. Breakfast was nice, but the unpleasant interaction left a stronger impression.

The owners were so friendly, and everyone made sure we had what we needed. The rooms are wonderfully cozy, with a warm feel throughout the hotel. It's a great place to unwind and leave everyday stress behind. I'd definitely come back, and bring some friends along.

The hotel and restaurant were really great, well worth the extra few miles of driving. We arrived in early May, when it wasn't really cold outside anymore, but the room heating was already on when we checked in. Very thoughtful. The rooms, restaurant, and lounge are beautifully decorated with art and interesting finds. Our balcony had a lovely view, and the people were friendly. Breakfast was delicious. The mountain drive here is beautiful, and it's lovely to walk around in the quiet. A wonderful place to relax after a day at Meteora or Metsovo.
