Black Rose Hotel & Suites

The hotel was nice and clean, and I had a very nice holiday there. The only downside was that the planes flying overhead were a little loud.

As a solo traveller, I felt very welcome by the staff and loved the family-run atmosphere. The hotel is right by a gorgeous beach, with some pretty cool restaurants nearby, and the bus gets you to the airport or town quickly. It really is a hidden gem. My flight was in the evening, so I had a lot of time to kill after checking out. They let me use the pool, which was great. I’ll definitely come back and remember my stay! ❤️

The apartments were basic, good value, and very clean and functional. Staff were friendly and helpful. The pool is on the small side, but it was never crowded, and we often had it to ourselves, so it was perfectly adequate for us. The beach is a 10-minute walk, and tavernas, shops, and a supermarket are a similar distance away. Exactly what we wanted.

This is just my personal experience, and another room might be different. The hotel seems fairly priced for the location, not far from the beach or town centre, though it’s in a deprived countryside residential area. Planes roared over the building, apparently at about 50m high, until very late at night. The place seemed clean, the staff were friendly in the limited interactions I had, and although I didn’t use the pool, it looked okay at a glance. My room had the basic requirements and seemed fine at first. I was in room 106, the first one to the left of the lobby. Its large glass section in the door let corridor light into the room. I asked for the light to be turned off at night, but they only switched off the one right outside my door, while the others stayed on. Even with that light off, it was still bright, so I used a spare towel to block some of it. The kitchenette tap dripped every few minutes and got annoying. The shower dripped as well, and the toilet flush leaked, so its tank refilled every 10-15 minutes. The noise was just as loud with the toilet door open or shut. Leaving the balcony door open brought a loud whistling crosswind between the room and corridor, probably because some doors are left open. If you’re hot at night, getting fresh air means listening to that. During my eight hours in bed I slept about an hour total. Maybe another room wouldn’t have all these little things disturbing your rest, though the planes would still be there. If you’re a light sleeper, avoid this place if possible. Otherwise, you might be fine.
