Denise Beach Hotel

The room was on the small side, but it was comfortable enough for two average-sized people. We had a kettle, hairdryer, fridge, TV, balcony furniture, and a rack for drying clothes. From the large seaside balcony, we could watch beautiful sunrises and hear the waves from bed. Denise beach hotel is right on the beach, and I think it may be the best hotel on Zakynthos. There are sunbeds at both the pool and the sea, and either spot is lovely. The sandy water stays shallow for at least 100 metres, so people from Laganas often walk through it rather than swim. Laganas is a party town, but far enough away that the nightlife didn't disturb us, and close enough for an evening out. We could also see fireworks there every night. Breakfast is served in a tucked-away area without a sea view. The hotel restaurant, on the terrace between the pool and the sea, has amazing views and very good food. You can order extra breakfast, lunch, dinner, or cocktails there. Self-service dinner is served in the breakfast area, while ordering from the restaurant menu lets you enjoy the view with your meal. We spent a week there in September, and leaving was really hard. If we could have stayed longer, we would have. The staff were lovely too. I highly recommend Denise beach hotel for a romantic holiday in Zakynthos.

The sea was ideal for our two little ones, aged three and one and a half. You can walk quite a long way before the water gets a little deeper, and there are sunbeds right by the shore. Both pool areas also have a small pool for toddlers. The playground equipment with the slide is getting old and could use some work, but it wasn't dangerous, and our kids enjoyed it. We stayed for ten days and had a great time. The staff welcomed us warmly, and Anna and her reception team sorted out anything we needed right away. They were also understanding about our late flight home and let us keep the room until our pickup around 4pm for a small extra charge. The restaurant food was delicious and fresh, with a mix of local and international dishes. There’s a buffet as well as an à la carte option. Some guests may want a bigger buffet, but the selection suited us well. The whole hotel was clean, and the cleaning ladies did an especially great job in our room: it was tidied every day, with fresh towels and blankets, and the floor washed with soap and water. I've stayed in more highly rated hotels where the rooms weren't kept this clean. Thanks so much for that. We really liked the atmosphere and might come back another time. That small bathroom was the only real drawback. The shower had a curtain instead of a proper enclosure, so water ended up all over the bathroom floor. Otherwise, it was a pleasant, well-located hotel. We were welcomed warmly, the staff were very friendly, and the room was cleaned every day. I'd recommend it for a relaxed stay in Laganas.

The views and location are hard to beat. There are two pools, one on each side of the hotel, plus stairs leading down to the sea, where you can see and swim with turtles. The restaurant was good and the drinks were amazing. Demitria and the man at the bar gave us really nice service. Breakfast wasn't much to brag about, but we still had a great experience. Having only one room key for four people wasn't very practical, and the shower curtains left the bathroom floor flooded with water. I'd still recommend the hotel for the setting and views.
