Perkes Hotel

The owners were really accommodating when we booked at the last minute. The rooms are basic, but fine for sleeping when you spend the day at the beach or by their awesome pool. It’s about a 30-minute walk to the beach and 15 minutes to the Laganas strip. Pool music can make it loud in the daytime, and there are some partying youngsters at night, so it’s great if you don’t mind the noise and would like to meet other travelers.

The staff were very polite and apologetic, but I still wouldn’t go back. The furniture was outdated, there was no air conditioning, and my room wasn’t cleaned during my five-day stay. I was there with my wife, but the bed was a single. When we asked about it, they suggested joining the beds, which was a shame. Breakfast was mediocre, and the all-inclusive deal was a joke, with everything limited. Expect Lidl cola and Fanta. The coffee machine used desalination water, so the coffee was terrible, and dinner was more like military food. Even for a cheap place, there should be some respect and cleanliness. The receptionist only seemed to understand what she wanted to.

The owner was rude and pretentious, and even getting the Wi-Fi password or the air conditioning remote felt like something you had to beg for. The place was filthy, with cobwebs on the ceiling, peeling paint, a disgusting bathroom with no shower curtain, and stained bed linen. The water was salty. It’s a 40-minute walk to the beach, and the pool and sunbeds sit in full view beside a very busy street. The worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in. Avoid it at all costs.

I went with my son from 20th to the 30th September 2024, booking on a whim. Since it was only a 3 star hotel, I wasn’t expecting much, and the rooms were basic but comfortable. What I got was one of the best stays I’ve ever had. My son had only a couple of months left to live, and the lady behind the counter arranged rooms next to each other. The wireless was meant to last one week, but they let us use it free for all 10 nights. Pedro was lovely, with a wonderful sense of humour that helped lighten a hard time for us. We got to know the other guests over meals and around the pool. One evening my son ran out of his anti clotting medication, which caused him a lot of pain. I was panicking and running around, then the manager realized what was happening and helped me procure more for him. Sadly, my son passed 9 weeks later. I wanted to bring my youngest son back so he could walk in his brother’s steps, but it’s too sad at the moment. As soon as I can, I intend to return. Thank you to all the staff for being so pleasant and friendly. If you’re not expecting 5 star service for a 3 star price, I highly recommend giving this hotel a try. Thank you again.
