Lardos Bay

We were pleased with our stay and felt the room was good value for what we paid. We hadn’t booked a room with a pool, so finding one right at the end of our balcony was a lovely surprise. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the breakfast area had a cozy, welcoming feel. Food was good, though I’d expected a little more choice at breakfast. The pool area was clean, well kept and had a great vibe. We wanted to stay another night, but the hotel was fully booked, which probably says a lot about its popularity even in October. We’d recommend it and would love to come back.

The room was in awful condition. The shower cabin, toilet, walls and floor were all in bad shape, and there were countless ants, even on the bed. Lizards crawled around the room too. The cleanliness was at the lowest level, and it felt like you could easily catch an infection. On the first night, I had to clean the shower cabin myself just to use it. I asked to change rooms that first night because of spiders and the general state of the place. Reception ignored me, and I was never moved. I spent two weeks there, and it was the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had. I strongly urge people not to book this hotel under any circumstances. The restaurants were the only good thing.

The staff, from the cleaning lady to reception, were generally nice, communicative and helpful. There were plenty of plugs in the room too, something many hotels overlook. Breakfast was okay, with limited choice but generally what you’d expect. Still, I wouldn’t choose this place again. We paid extra for a sea-view room, but the balcony railing was below the legally required 1.20m, which felt like a serious safety issue with our three-year-old. When we raised it, reception offered a pool-view room without refunding the difference. When we insisted, they told us to leave and find another hotel. Food at the pool bar was disappointing. The menu was very limited, the potatoes tasted of old oil, and the Caesar salad came with spoiled lettuce and no sauce. When I asked for dressing, they offered only plain oil. The room had no clothes rack for drying clothes, and the rusty shower head had no curtain, making it uncomfortable. The pool water looked unclear and the area wasn’t very clean, so it didn’t feel inviting. As a Greek guest, I also found it unacceptable that none of the staff spoke Greek.

We’ve stayed here twice and plan to come back. The catering staff understand my partner’s food allergies and dietary needs so well that we feel very confident recommending the hotel. It’s rated four stars, but in our view it easily deserves five. It’s lovely for children too.
