Vasilikata

The host was warm and helpful, offered great local advice, and made me feel very welcome. I stayed at Vasilikata for one night and really enjoyed the traditional charm and peaceful atmosphere. My room was clean, cozy, and well equipped. It was a short stay, but a memorable one, and I’d be happy to return.

Aliki was a wonderful host, helpful and knowledgeable about Cretan history. She provided several traditional Cretan dishes for breakfast. Having the kitchen and included breakfast was critical in winter, since many restaurants were closed or had limited hours in the off season. The village was so quiet and peaceful, especially after Athens. We had an amazing stay in these tastefully renovated dwellings, which offer an authentic feel with modern comforts. Even in winter, there was plenty to do within walking distance or a reasonable drive.

The owner was very kind. We had mistakenly booked an apartment without a kitchen, and they offered us another one with a kitchen for the same price. Still, the location felt boring, and the roads from the apartments weren’t optimal, so getting anywhere took a long time. We should have checked the routes to places like the beaches before booking. We stayed only two nights instead of six, left early, lost money, and booked somewhere else.

The apartment was warm and more than cozy over the Christmas holidays. Our host was always ready to help, and we enjoyed the great hospitality and meeting such friendly people. We had an excellent stay at Vasilikata and will come back.
