Hotel Lefkes

I can only speak for the restaurant, since I haven’t stayed at the hotel. Prices, atmosphere and service were all okay, but nothing special, so a solid 3 feels about right. The mussels risotto smelled awful, as if the mussels had come from sewage instead of the sea.

Avoid this place. After I booked, they took an advance payment of 550 euros, even though I couldn’t find anywhere saying one would be charged. I canceled within the free cancellation period, but they didn’t return the money. When I called several times, they either didn’t answer or gave me different excuses. I say they’re thieves and liars. Avoid!

A week after I canceled, I got another SMS telling me to delete a Google Maps review I hadn’t even written at that point. They gave me 24 hours and threatened that their lawyer would contact me. I hadn’t left a review because I was still trying to work out what had happened and why I’d had to cancel. This was after a strange and unpleasant booking experience. I’d reserved two rooms in August, one for me and one for a friend. Two days before we were due to arrive, they messaged both by SMS and through Booking, saying there was a virus outbreak, probably COVID, at the hotel. They said staff and nearly all guests had high fevers, and recommended free cancellation if we didn’t want to get sick. I didn’t want to get sick, so I canceled. But we booked another hotel nearby and saw the original hotel open and operating. Guests were having dinner, looked fine and were on vacation, and someone in our group even went to the restaurant without a problem. Threatening customers for no reason is no way to communicate. I never stayed there, though maybe that was for the best.

Scammers! We booked two months before our trip, then they canceled the reservation just one day before we were due to arrive, claiming there was Covid at the hotel. When we went there, it was full of other people who obviously didn’t have Covid.
