Iro Hotel

We had a decent-sized room on the top floor with an enormous balcony, thick curtains that blocked the sun, and great AC. The room was mostly quiet, the bathroom seemed brand new, and the clean sheets and towels were accompanied by thorough cleaning almost every day. The staff at both the hotel and restaurant were lovely, kind, and helpful. Location was great, and breakfast and dinner at the buffet were delicious. There are a couple of things to know if you have the buffet included: drinks at dinner aren’t free, and you might have to wait for a table because the buffet has been moved and guests from another hotel eat there too. It’s a seven-minute walk from Iro Hotel, or a minibus comes to take guests there. The mattress and pillow could have been more comfortable, but otherwise it was good value for money.

The meals were the one real plus: served at Hotel Sergios next door, they were varied and delicious. Everything else felt in need of urgent renovation. The room was small, the terrace even smaller, with unexplained stains on the walls. The beds felt like stone, and the uncomfortable mattresses had springs that hurt my back. The towels and sheets were old, though changed during our stay, and the cleaning ladies really tried their best. My boyfriend and I were initially given two single beds because apparently we were supposed to specifically request a double, but they arranged it for the next day. The wooden balcony door was noisy even when closed. There’s no reception here, everything is handled at Hotel Sergios, including check-in.

I stayed with my daughter in October 2022 for her first flight. Iro Hotel was basic, just two single beds, a TV, and air conditioning. Breakfast was good at the hotel next door, where we checked in with friendly staff. There were plenty of shops, bars, and restaurants around, and the beaches were a short walk away. Would I return? Yes, but I’d stay at the hotel next door.

The reception staff were always kind and friendly, and breakfast was fine, but the online pictures didn’t match the rooms. Housekeeping slammed doors loudly, the bathroom plumbing smelled bad, and the beds were unbelievably uncomfortable. For that price, they should at least have a decent bed.
