Dorkas Studios

Angela was such a friendly host, and runs this fully renovated hotel with her husband. Our sea-view room was comfortable, and breakfast was always good. The village is an easy walk away, with plenty of restaurants and a few shops. Angela was always ready to answer questions, and her father kindly drove us to the ferry terminal. We can only recommend the place.

Dorkas is a short taxi ride from the ferry and close to the beach, which is less than a five-minute walk through the back of the complex. Town takes a little longer on foot, around five to ten minutes. The location is good, though room quality seems to depend on which one you get. Ours was small, clean, and functional, with a view toward the breakfast area. The bathroom and shower felt cramped, and we only had a fridge in the room. Breakfast was basic, and the area didn’t have enough tables for the number of guests, so people sometimes had to wait. Reception was staffed only part-time, with a number to call for emergencies.

We’d love to come back. My wife and I spent two nights here during an island-hopping trip with Secret Escapes. The studios were tastefully furnished and well equipped, in a peaceful spot, and the best beach was only a few minutes away. It was an easy walk down to the harbour, shops, and tavernas. Breakfast was served in a separate annex, with a good selection each day. A nice extra was the owner’s father driving us to and from the port.

Dorkas was a really good choice for our two nights. The staff were super friendly and helped with everything we asked for. The rooms are cute and close to the sea, and ours was spotless with a simple, local feel. We slept well in a quiet spot, on the best mattress of the four hotels we stayed at on our Cyclades trip. The bathroom was narrow, but very clean. The only nuisance was the bright signs by the entrance, which we had to cover at night. The beach is about a minute away on foot, and the port area takes three to five minutes to reach. Breakfast was delightful, a small buffet with tasty options. My wife loved the little apple pastries, and I think it was the best Greek yogurt I’d had so far. We’d recommend Dorkas without hesitation and are thinking of spending a whole holiday on serifos next year.
