Boutique Hotel Tilos Mare

It was peaceful, but still just a three-minute walk to the beach, supermarket that delivers, and bars and restaurants. The pool is right outside your door, and every staff member was friendly and happy to help. Best hotel ever! We're definitely coming back with friends.

It's a perfectly fine three-star hotel, but I don't see what makes it boutique. There are some nice paintings on the walls, which are the only boutique feature I noticed. The bathroom was nicely designed, but had no window or ventilation, and that was the biggest issue with our room. The location is a little way from the beach and restaurants, though it's only about a five-minute walk.

I was pleased with the friendly staff, the pleasant location a little out of the way, and the good breakfast with omelettes. I gave it 9/10 because I wasn't fully satisfied with the kitchen setup. For an 11-day solo stay in a studio, more than one pot and a completely scratched frying pan would have been better. I bought cleaning supplies and a sponge myself. The small kitchen also has no tiles or extractor. The balcony wasn't comfortable, either, with a huge air conditioning unit in the corner, especially when it's over 30 degrees and too hot to sit out there. I wish the hotel had told us about the few steam interruptions. I heard about them from other tourists.

The staff were kind and helpful, including picking us up at the harbor and driving us back on departure day. Since there were few guests, we got upgraded to a deluxe room. It was spacious, quiet, and very clean. We also enjoyed a swim in the pool beneath the huge bougainvilleas and a simple but tasty breakfast on the terrace behind the hotel. Tilos Mare Hotel is an eight-minute walk from the port and even closer to the area's small taverns. We stayed for two nights at the start of September, and I'd recommend it. We'd gladly stay again.
