Kefalonia Beach Hotel & Bungalows

Breakfast was fresh and tasty, and there was a good view of the sea while eating. It was consistent too, and made for a nice start to the day. The hotel is just steps from the beach, with beautiful sea views from the rooms and restaurant. We could hear the waves when we woke up, and that breakfast view will stay with me. The whole property, from the rooms to the shared areas, was kept immaculately clean. The staff were welcoming, friendly and always ready to help. I had a relaxing and enjoyable stay. There were mosquitoes in the evening, but that was a small problem. We used a mosquito repellent device in the room and it worked fine. I'd recommend this hotel for a peaceful seaside break with good service, comfort and views.

A terrible stay. The room was very basic and dated, and not particularly clean. The bed frame was so unstable that even a small movement from either of us would wake us both. There was no hot water at all, and using the shower flooded the bathroom anyway. The owner's dog barked constantly into the early hours, and workers were outside our door at midnight. When we spoke to the owner (?) she was extremely unfriendly. She repeatedly questioned where we were staying and made us prove which room was ours. Even then, she didn't seem pleased we were there.

The beach was only a stone's throw away, but the surrounding area had no good restaurants unless you waded through the water along the beach, past the cave, to the livelier stretch with restaurants and supermarkets. The location has potential, but it needs major improvements. The rooms were incredibly basic. The door was no better than a shed door, with a gap underneath that let in ants and other bugs. Whenever we went out, cleaners left it on a flimsy latch rather than double-locking it, and they left the ground-floor balcony doors wide open. Someone could easily have walked into the room. The beds were very uncomfortable and creaked at the slightest movement. We could hear outside dogs barking, and even our neighbors using the toilet. Staff felt cold rather than welcoming. Whenever we ordered drinks, they asked in a frosty way if we were staying at the hotel.

Free sunbeds, a good breakfast and a great sea view. The hotel was clean and I had a very nice stay. Good value for money.
