Hotel Magnolia

The lobby looks fancy and nice, but that was about the only positive. The owners were rude and hard to understand, and the service was terrible. They didn’t clean the room or provide toilet paper, and we had to change the sheets ourselves. The mini stove was broken, and they said all the air-conditioning remotes were being repaired, so we couldn’t get air conditioning, which they charge extra for. Wi-Fi was lousy in the evening. It’s expensive for what little is offered, they asked for extra taxes when other accommodations don’t, and it’s a fairly long uphill walk from the beach and promenade. I wouldn’t call this a hotel, and it was the most horrible place I visited in Greece.

We spent a long weekend in Edipsos, a lovely city in the northern part of Evia island, and stayed at Hotel Magnolia. It was a lovely, very clean and tidy place, with spacious rooms and amenities, close to both the harbor and the spa. The owners were friendly and hospitable. Highly recommended.

The building and rooms were quite modern, but the staff and service were bad. There was a problem with our booking, and they treated us poorly without offering explanations or alternatives.

We were turned away at check-in because, according to the owner, we had too many children. My 21-month-old was exhausted from the road and crying in my arms, wanting to sleep, and she said he would bother her and the other guests. That was unacceptable. The worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in.
