John Akroyiali rooms

The rooms are really comfortable, the view is nice, and the food is amazing.

The view was beautiful, and the service was the best.

The room was a highlight: spacious, split between a bedroom and a small living area, with a shaded outdoor spot to sit. The hotel is above a gorgeous turquoise beach, though Loutro itself is basically a narrow strip of tourist development along the shore. Getting here takes planning. You can only reach the village by boat from Chora Sfakion or the much smaller Fenix on the other side. The scheduled Anendyk ferry from Sfakion, or from Paleochora, Sougia or Ayia Roumeli if coming from that direction, costs about 10 euros. Miss it and a taxi boat is an option, but it costs 25-40 euros. I gave the hotel a low rating because the owner came across as dishonest and unhelpful. She claimed we could easily find an ATM during our trip, apparently so we'd pay her in cash instead of by card. Businesses in the region are required to accept card payments. There is no ATM in Loutro or in nearby villages such as Fenix and Ayia Roumeli, so bring plenty of cash. A few other things were communicated unclearly too, and the stay left a sour taste.

The rooms were dirty and uncomfortable, and the whole experience was horrible. The women at reception smoked near my window even after I told them I have a health problem. They ignored me and were very rude. One of them is apparently the owner. I wouldn't recommend this place.
