What makes this place special is how the owner remembers guests by name and greets everyone with such warmth and a smile. It feels welcoming right away. The rooms sit almost on the beach, and having a meal with the sea in view feels like a real luxury. Food is freshly made each day and tastes authentic and delicious. There’s no usual à la carte menu, which may take a little getting used to, and meals can arrive at a leisurely pace. In this calm, beautiful setting, that wait feels part of the experience. It’s a rare little gem, and somewhere I’d come to unwind and feel at home.

We spent about a week at Taverna Akrogiali, a family-run hotel with just 16 rooms, and would happily return. Pavlos was a warm, smiling host who was always ready to help. The nearby tavernas, plus easy access to Loutro in one direction and Marmara Beach in the other, made it a great base for a relaxed family holiday. It has a vibe similar to Sinai, for those who know it. The beach in front is peaceful, and the sea is close enough that you can easily get hooked on the sound of the waves. Swim a bit farther east and you’ll find cliff-jumping spots the kids loved, little caves in the rocks, and natural lagoons. We’re already looking forward to visiting again.

The beach on this side of Loutro is quieter and less crowded than the first ones you pass, and Taverna Akrogiali is a handy spot to spend a while. It’s right by the water, so we could stop for food or a drink between swims. The view is gorgeous and the service was friendly. We ordered club sandwiches, calamari and octopus. It was all fresh and well prepared, simple rather than fancy, and just right for a casual lunch. You can also rent stand up paddle boards and paddle boats. One thing I didn’t love: beach chairs and umbrellas still cost ten euro per set, even if you eat at the taverna. A discount or inclusion for diners would be nice.

The food was excellent, and the owner welcomed me with a big smile even though I was the only customer, having arrived early in the evening. I came for lunch at this magnificent spot just above the waves. They also have rooms to let and a free beach. Thanks for the lovely tsigariasto and the traditional local accommodation. Keep up the great work and attitude...

We drove our rental car and had no problems, and there are some great hikes nearby. Pavlos was an incredible host, the food was great, and the views were even better!
