Archontiko Xantha

Marianthi and Gavril were wonderfully kind and welcoming, ready to help with anything we needed. I’ll definitely visit again. The room was spotless, spacious, and comfortable, with a fireplace and a heavenly view right from the window. This is the most beautiful, warm, and cozy place to stay in the area, with a view that’s hard to beat. Don’t worry too much about the steep road. It’s short and completely worth it. If you’d rather not drive up, you can stay in the parking lot and the owners will pick you up. It’s only two minutes to the top.

The hotel sits at the highest part of Makrinitsa, with a wonderful outlook over the mountains, sea, and Volos. An eco-path starts right outside and leads down to the village center. Some parts are steep, though, and walking back up would be quite difficult, so a car is definitely the only way to get around. The place itself is charming, with an atmosphere from a bygone era. Our double room was comfortable and very clean, and we had a lovely little balcony overlooking the whole gulf of Volos. Akis was very kind and responsive. A great place to stay.

We’ll definitely come back. The owners were extremely friendly and always ready to help, and they gave us great tips on where to go for long walks, beautiful sights, and good food in the villages. Arhontiko Xantha probably has the best view of Makrinitsa. If you like having morning coffee high up on a mountain while looking out at the sea, you’ll love it. Our room was very clean and had everything we needed for a comfortable, enjoyable stay.

A brilliant stone house with panoramic views across Pagasiticos gulf. There are lots of places called 'archontiko' in this village, so take care with the directions. Google Maps will get you there, but check that you’ve entered the spelling accurately.
