Athina Luxury Villas

We stayed at Villa Myrtia, which is directly connected to Villa Kissos. The listing photos showed large trees separating the two pools, but those are gone now; there are only small shrubs and some rocks. There are three villas in all, two joined together and one standing alone on a gated lot. The lot gives good privacy from outsiders, and we had a nice view of the sea and olive groves. But you can hear everything from the neighboring villa, especially children crying, so bring earplugs if you want to sleep. The villa wasn't ready for guests. Plumbing needed repairs on two consecutive days, and we had to wait a week for cushions for the outdoor terrace furniture. The kitchen was poorly supplied: no good cutting knives, just two wine glasses for a place that sleeps seven, and too few plates, bowls, and cutlery. They could easily have provided twice as much. Cleaning came roughly every 4-5 days. The air conditioning was good, but the BBQ was awful, just a rusty, cheap little metal grill shared between the two attached villas. Communication with the manager in English was poor. We'd arranged a rental car through him and transfers to and from Heraklion airport. I checked specifically that it was both ways, but on departure morning nobody came to pick us up. Apparently there'd been a misunderstanding, though I don't see how, given what I'd written. Arrange your own car and transfers. Our stay was almost trouble-free otherwise, but this huge misunderstanding nearly made us miss our flight. We might have returned, but after such a terrible final day we'll look for another property.
