We were just a two-minute walk from the beach, with everything else we needed close by. The room was clean and had a nice balcony, and the staff were extremely friendly and helped us with everything. We didn't use the pool, though it looked good. We stayed a week and were very happy with the experience. A good choice if you're on a budget but still want a nice stay.

We stayed here in summer 2015 and found it a decent, good value budget hotel, with a pool, on Malia's main street. The owner was friendly and reliable, and his assistant, a helpful, warm-hearted woman from Ukraine, also looked after the souvenir and local specialties shop downstairs. Breakfast was simple, with no frills, but filling. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a clean place to stay and hoping to save some money.

We booked expecting a pool, European breakfast, and a drink at the hotel's restaurant, but there was no restaurant or breakfast, and the pool was drained and under construction. The photos gave a very different impression. It's a disaster for a holiday, though maybe okay for one night, and it's expensive for what you get. Before arrival, we called for about a week without anyone answering. When we got there, the reception was empty and the whole place smelled of cigarettes. After half an hour, a man appeared and took us to a basic double room. The air conditioning costs an extra €5 per day. The TV wouldn't turn on and its remote was broken. WiFi was extremely slow, slower than the ferry's. The shower swung between freezing cold and boiling hot. The double bed was actually two single beds pushed together, with a charger outlet between them that was annoying for a couple and we kept hitting our heads on it. There was a bedside table on only one side, and the room lighting was barely noticeable.

Irina and the other staff were pleasant, and the room service did a great job keeping everything clean. The rooms are already in need of repairs, though, and breakfast was poor and not very tasty. The street noise from bars, cars, and people carried on at night. The beach is about a five-minute walk away, sandy, and has water sports, bars, cafes, lounges, and sunbeds for an extra €8. It was quite crowded in September.
