Notos Heights Hotel & Suites

The staff were friendly, and the sunset view was great. The hotel was also close to the highway and some excellent restaurants for dinner. Breakfast was the same every morning, though. Our party-loving neighbors came back around 4 or 5 in the morning, and the thin walls and door let the noise through. We could hear everything.

The pool was nice, and breakfast was fine, though nothing special. The air conditioning was old and noisy. There was no coffee or tea, the water wasn't replaced, and the cups had been washed poorly. We booked a seaview room, but based on our experience and the reviews, it seems quite obvious that they overbook those rooms and then "upgrade" guests into plainer, more basic triple rooms facing the street, with a view of garbage and the like. It felt more like a downgrade, and our room looked nothing like the photos we booked from. They describe the hotel as quiet and serene in Malia, but there were party guests and no one around to keep an eye on things. Reception wasn't open and nothing was done, so we couldn't sleep. Overall, we were disappointed.

Of the three Greek islands we visited, this was by far our favorite place to stay. The pool and drinks were lovely, and the place was impeccably clean. Breakfast was included and excellent, and the service was phenomenal. They helped us sort out airport transport, rent a car, and find local historical sites, beaches, hikes, and places serving authentic Greek food.

The swimming pool is heavenly, and the views are amazing. The location makes it easy to reach the main strip, but it's far enough up to enjoy some peace and quiet. The rooms are lovely and spacious, and the staff are very friendly and helpful.
