It’s close to the beach, restaurants, and shops, but still quiet enough to unwind. Philoxenia is a simple hotel, kept very clean and in good shape. The rooms were comfortable and had what we needed for a pleasant holiday. Everyone was friendly and helpful, and made us feel welcome from day one.

The half-board food was varied and delicious, and parking was free for our whole stay. We were right in the heart of Malia, near the beach, bars, and Old town of Malia. The “boho style” room was very clean and had everything we needed, with fresh towels and bedsheets every three days. The staff made our trip feel especially memorable and pleasant, which you don’t come across very often these days. A place I’d highly recommend.

The food was delicious at breakfast and dinner, and there was plenty for me. I also enjoyed the menu drinks. The senior lady cook was so kind when she helped me with ice cream, she reminded me of my grandmother. The cute cats in the yard kept us company too. My room was cozy, with a beautiful view, and it was clean with a pleasant smell everywhere. The staff were lovely and always ready to help. A cozy hotel in the heart of malia, with really pleasant service. Thanks for making the stay so comfortable. I hope I can come back.

The rooms were in bad shape, with broken closets and electric wires sticking out of some light fixtures. The whole property looks nothing like the online pictures and badly needs renovation. Cleanliness was a serious problem, especially at the pool, which wasn’t cleaned during our weeklong June stay. The buffet was tiny and had very little variety. Staff weren’t welcoming or helpful, which made things worse. You weren’t allowed to bring your own water or snacks to the pool, but there was nothing available to buy for the kids as an afternoon snack, not even a small treat. We felt very uncomfortable and unwelcome. Service, maintenance, and hospitality all need serious improvement. I wouldn’t recommend staying here.
