JW Marriott Crete Resort & Spa

The resort itself deserves 5/5, but the service was 1/5, so I’ve rated it 4/5. It’s a beautiful property and one of the nicest in Crete, with excellent facilities, architecture, spa, restaurants, and atmosphere. The Earth Sheltered Villa was outstanding and met expectations. But the service didn’t match the JW Marriott name or a rate of nearly €2,000 per night. We were forgotten at the airport and waited about an hour for our transfer after calling the hotel. A concierge request for two cocktails and a fruit platter took nearly 90 minutes, a medical bandage requested at reception never arrived, and I waited around 20 minutes for a buggy after reminding staff. Housekeeping removed wine glasses and coffee cups without replacing them. The attention to detail was below what I’ve experienced at other JW Marriott properties. Olympia was the exception. She was outstanding, genuinely cared, and actively tried to fix problems, giving the level of service I’d expect from a luxury resort. Thank you, Olympia, you were easily the highlight of the service. The property is exceptional, but inconsistent service and what seems to be a lack of staffing and training are holding it back.

We left with unforgettable memories and can’t wait to return. JW Marriott Crete is a destination in its own right, and one of the finest luxury resort stays we’ve ever had. From arrival, the welcome felt genuinely warm and the hospitality was impeccable. The resort is stunning, bringing together modern luxury and Crete’s natural beauty in a way that feels elegant and authentic. It exceeded every expectation.

The kids loved the activities at the Kids Club, and the team there was warm, engaging, and professional. Across the resort, from the front desk to housekeeping, the staff were attentive and hospitable. The setting and facilities made a lovely backdrop for our family trip, and the property exceeded what we expected. We had a wonderful vacation, but what we appreciated most was the staff. We’ve already recommended the stay to friends and family and plan to return in September this year.

Mary, the Duty General Manager during our visit, made our stay exceptional. My wife and I were celebrating our 12th wedding anniversary, and she made sure it felt special, taking care with every detail. Her warmth, professionalism, and customer service stood out throughout. Mary is a tremendous asset to the Marriott brand, and we’re very grateful for all she did to make our anniversary so enjoyable.
