Apartment in Markopoulo center

We were exhausted and panicking after a dreadful mess with Agean Airlines and new visa rules between Canadians and Egypt. We were turned away from Egypt and sent back to Athens, where we'd stayed before. Our flight out had been at 11 pm, and the return flight was at 4 am, so we'd had no sleep. While scrambling to cancel our Egypt hotels, we were also trying to find somewhere in Athens just to rest and recover. Suzana was one of the few people who replied early in the morning and let us check in ahead of time so we could sleep. She also arranged a taxi with her partner, who was lovely. He didn't know what we'd been through, but greeted us with, "Welcome to Greece!" It was such a wholesome moment. They'd also left lots of goodies in the fridge, which we hadn't expected. We're very grateful for their kindness.

We only stayed the night before our flight, but it left a strong impression. The apartment looked brand new, with modern decor, and this was one of the best places we've stayed. Souzana, the owner, was kind and helpful, and spoiled us with wine, juice, cookies, and so much kindness. Thank you again, god bless you!!

Croissants and juice were left for breakfast. The place was clean and roomy, with a modern-looking bathroom and useful, up-to-date kitchen facilities.

I visited on a Thursday, so it wasn't very busy. There were plenty of tempting things to try, and finding something good to eat was easy.
