Margo Beach Hotel

Right by the sea, with rooms looking out over a beautiful view. It’s a charming family-run place with a very good breakfast. A nice base whether you want to explore the area or just spend time relaxing on the beach. Highly recommended.

The sign says “welcome to Mango Hotel,” and, in both English and Greek, that sunbeds require a minimum €10 purchase. There was no reservation sign when we sat down, but after an hour a staff member told us to leave because the beds were reserved for guests. Where does the sign say that? This felt dishonest and deceitful, and the staff member was absolutely rude. If the sunbeds are only for hotel guests, the signs should make that clear. The way this was handled was disgraceful and gives Greece a bad name. It makes me think people will stop coming here on holiday. I don’t think this would happen in other countries.

George at reception was incredibly helpful, and George at breakfast was kind and funny, with impeccable service. It’s a perfect hotel for kids. The water is crystal clear and the beach never gets crowded. In the morning it’s calm, with more waves in the afternoon.

We had a lovely time here with our toddler. Breakfast was a favorite, especially the fresh-squeezed orange juice and all the kid-friendly choices. We also had lunch there, with delicious salads and gyro tacos, and the bar staff were so kind and made a great frappe. Giorgos ran wonderful service by the beach. Even an Alpha beer tasted amazing there! We drove down from Athens to Gythio for a quick two-day getaway, and this was just what we wanted. The beach was quiet and relaxing, with fine little rocks and fabulous views. There were several rows of comfortable chaise lounges under umbrellas. Our room was spacious and clean, the AC worked well, and the hotel and landscaping looked beautiful and gave the stay a luxurious feel.
