Hotel Alkyon

Kathrin and her family make this little gem near Megas Gialos a great fit for our family. We’ve often had trouble finding connecting rooms, and Hotel Alkyon has two. It’s a quaint, family-run place with what you need, plus one of the largest pools I’ve seen in Greece. The beach is also within walking distance, and breakfast is generous and included. This was our second year being welcomed here, and it won’t be our last. We’re already looking forward to next year. Can’t fault anything.

Justine at the bar makes the best margaritas in the world, and the pool area feels like a little paradise. It’s relaxing and beautiful, with a peaceful setting around it. The family running the place are what really make it special. They welcome everyone with genuine warmth, and the rooms and pool are kept super clean. You can tell they put a lot of love and care into the details. The kind of place you remember and want to return to.

I felt right at home, thanks to Iakovos, Katrin, Justine, and the rest of the family. They greet you with a warm “Kalimera!” and a real smile. The library is lovely, and the salads were the best ever. Getting around is easy too, with public transport a two-minute walk away, and beautiful beaches about 10 minutes away. Mornings with the purple bougainvillea outside the window and coffee overlooking the blue Aegean were wonderful. After a swim, I’d sunbathe with only the cicadas for company. It’s a little paradise, with a genuinely authentic feel.

The quiet atmosphere and handy location made it easy to explore Syros. I also appreciated the staff’s local knowledge, and the breakfast spread was delicious. They went out of their way to make every part of my stay go smoothly. From the moment I arrived, I was met with warm smiles and wonderful hospitality. My room was comfortable and elegantly designed, and the views of the island and sparkling Aegean were mesmerizing. It was a magical stay at Hotel Alkyon, and I can’t wait to come back.
