Ρήγας: Όμορφα στο Μεσολόγγι, Διαμέρισμα Β2

We’ve stayed here three times now, including for two nights on our way from the North of Greece to Athens. The hotel’s spacious rooms, authentic style, and location are what we enjoy. Good value for money.

The staff were friendly, but the room cleaning was only superficial, with dust left in the corners. The mattresses were badly torn and yellowed with age and use. The balcony door and bathroom window were broken.

I came back to Mesolongi lagoon for a second business visit, but I hope I won’t book here again. The price was high, especially since the “renovated” rooms cost almost twice what Google Maps indicated. With the hotel talking about renovation inside and out, I expected more. The room’s doors, cable routers, wardrobe, and floor looked like they were from the 80s, and the amenities were less than basic. The walls were mostly clean, though patches of fresh paint showed where dirty areas had been. The rolling shutters vibrated in the strong wind. There was no mini bar, and the WiFi disconnected often, though it was quite fast when it worked. The A/C struggled to heat the room when it was cold outside, though not freezing. The remote controls for the TV and A/C were dirty, as were the chairs and stool, and the shower wasn’t as clean as I expected. There was no soundproofing, and the door had such a basic lock that it seemed easy to open with a push. On the plus side, it was close to the city center, parking was easy to find, and the room was spacious. Breakfast was nice, though it started rather late. Room service came daily, the fridge worked, and the staff were quite friendly.

The staff were a real help. The evening and night team were extremely helpful, and when we had AC trouble, the maintenance man, Mikey, was in the room within a minute of being called. At 3am, unable to sleep, I went to the lobby, where the desk attendant invited me to sit and watch the Canada vs Uruguay COPA championship. The water pressure in my room was fantastic, strong enough to cut skin. The hotel is centrally located, with a nice walk to the beach/boardwalk and town square. I’d seen the earlier reviews and expected the worst, but people seemed to expect $1000 rooms for around $50. The room needs a key to power it, except room 107 wink wink. The AC takes a while to cool the room, but once it reaches temperature, it’s a fridge. Breakfast was simple and nice, with bread, pastries, yogurt, fruit, coffee, and orange juice. My only breakfast complaint was that the juice was warmer than room temperature. Maybe the dispenser could sit in ice, or frozen orange juice could be used as ice. The walls are thin. I heard heavy moaning and noises in the hall, but whoever it was didn’t last long. It was only 3 minutes before the final umph haha
