Hotel Platon

The food was really poor quality. There was nothing green, no olive oil, tomatoes, or anything like that, just low quality bread and cheese. The decent food was already gone. The cutlery was child sized, so everything looked bigger. I wouldn’t recommend eating here. There was no heating in the rooms either, and it was pretty cold.

The room was a decent size for the price and very clean. There’s a fridge, but only a shower, and you’ll need earplugs because the pipes are noisy. The night receptionist was very kind and ordered outside delivery food for me. You can pay the food vendor by card.

I stayed for two weeks, and it wasn’t a bad experience at all. The train station was nearby, so getting into the city was easy, and I thought the neighbourhood was fine. My room was clean and the staff were kind, apart from one older man, possibly the boss, who seemed a bit grumpy. The window or door was on the small side, which made the room darker than I like, though that’s down to the builders, not the hotel. The breakfast was the one thing I disliked. There weren’t any vegetables, and I couldn’t understand why, especially with the weekend market on the next street. For a vegetarian or vegan, it could be a real nightmare. I didn’t pay for the room myself, so I can’t comment on the price. It’s a 3-star hotel, so I’d normally give it 3 stars, but I’ll go with 4.

Hotel Platon is a bit old fashioned, but clean and perfectly adequate for a night. I mostly use it as an airport hotel because it’s good value and getting to Athens International Airport, around 30 km away, is easy by car or suburban railway. Metamorfosi center is also pleasant and within walking distance.
