Villa Askamnia and Suites

The beach is a couple of minutes away along the road beside the villa. It was quiet when we were there in July and August, with mostly local people around. It’s a semi-wild beach rather than a maintained tourist spot, which is something to keep in mind when planning. We liked the calm water, the lack of rocks, and how suitable it was for younger children. Sunbeds and umbrellas are included, but the umbrellas have to be collected from the guesthouse courtyard and the sunbeds set up on the beach, so guests need to do that themselves. We stayed eight nights and liked the spacious apartments and outdoor areas. The location between Metamorfosi and Nikiti is a bit removed from both towns, which suited us because we wanted somewhere in Greece with fewer tourists. The owners were easy to get along with, and special thanks to Thomas for his suggestions. Breakfast had lots of variety for different tastes, though it was later than we were used to, between 9 and 11. They did make it earlier one day when we asked, and the hosts were responsive. There’s a large shared pool, plus three private pools for some apartments with their own terraced areas. The courtyard is spacious, and the amenities work for a short stay or a longer holiday. Some things could use attention, including the lawn, playground, sunbeds, wooden canopies, and a few other facilities. We were happy with our choice and had a pleasant vacation. I think people who research the place first and set their expectations accordingly can enjoy it too.

Breakfast was a real highlight for our family. There was a generous spread of cheeses, cold cuts, dairy, eggs made to order, pastries both sweet and savoury, croissants, fruit, juice, and genuinely good coffee. Our kids loved it. We spent four nights at Villa Askamnia and Suites Askamnia with my wife and our two 11-year-old children. We had a room with its own pool, though most of our time was spent in the warm, clean sea. The private beach had loungers and umbrellas and was never crowded. The shallow water near shore was great for the kids, who played there for hours. There’s also a nice bar that stays open until the last guest leaves, a good spot to unwind in the evening. What stood out most was the family running the hotel, parents and two adult sons. They speak Greek, English, and German fluently, and made us feel like relatives rather than customers. They handled every request with care, even giving us rides to Nikiti or a restaurant with a smile. You can tell they put their hearts into the place, keep improving it, and notice the details. We’re very grateful for their warmth and hospitality, and hope to come back someday.

The room was clean and service was very good, and the owners were kind and helpful. It’s a spacious property in a handy spot for getting around Kassandra and Sitonia. There’s secure parking if you want to keep an eye on your car, plus a quiet beachfront with sunbeds provided. Breakfast gets extra credit for the daily fried vegetables and fresh fruit. There’s a ping pong table, an outdoor shower, and an outdoor pool that’s great for kids and others too. The air conditioning worked well, and there’s a decent-sized freezer and cooking machine. It suits families with children, couples, and older visitors. Internet could be better, though I heard improvements are underway, and I think the issue may be with local GSM coverage. You can buy local olive oil at the property. Very good value for the price.

The pool was my kids’ favourite part, and the beach is only a two-minute walk away. You can walk to Metamorfosi in about 5-10 minutes, or drive 6-8 minutes to Nikiti for shops and tavernas. We had a really pleasant week in Sythonia at villa Askamnia. It’s a lovely complex with lots of facilities and great breakfast. It’s a lovely family business, and everyone was so friendly. After a few days, you feel like part of the place, which is an awesome feeling. When I’m back in Sythonia, this will definitely be my first choice. Special regards to Thomas.
