The refrigerator was dirty, and the closet still had a pile of clothes and sheets from previous guests that hadn't been washed. We barely saw the owners. For the prices they charge, we expected everything to be in order, especially since Methana has plenty of decent places to stay. I hope they take a cue from those places and improve their service. Holidays matter, and people deserve some respect when they're trying to get a few peaceful days away from the daily grind. This was a three-night stay starting August 15, for a family with two children.

The gentleman was kind and let us check out late. The rooms were clean and had a kitchen and bathroom, and the location was good. We could hear the TVs in the rooms next door, though, so I wish it had been a bit quieter.

The room itself was spacious and had the basics, though there was no coffee pot or kitchen towels. The Booking.com ad promised fast, 100 Mbps internet, but the Wi-Fi was down all three nights. I needed to work from home and ended up paying for mobile data. They blamed a previous storm, even though the Wi-Fi across from the tavern "Kapileio" was running at 50 Mbps. The TV was another issue: it never turned on because the board was burnt out. Mr. Stelios, the lovely older man who manages the rooms, didn't seem to be very busy. And then there was the neighbor who sometimes talked loudly at 5 a.m., sometimes at 7, apparently giving a YouTube lecture. In summer, with the windows open, I wouldn't take a room at the back if you want to sleep.

We paid 65€ a night for two nights, which felt like a lot for this room and its level of cleanliness. The shower wasn't very clean when we arrived, and there were visible traces of salts and soap, as the photo shows. We were on the ground floor, where we could hear people coming and going through the building because there was essentially no soundproofing. As soon as we entered the room, we also spotted a huge cockroach. We asked for insecticide, sprayed it, and then saw a second one.
