Ulysses Hotel

I didn't plan to write a negative review because I thought one critical voice might seem out of place among all the glowing ones. After talking with friends who urged me to be honest, I decided it was fair to share what happened in case it helps someone choose. We paid for seven nights at Ulysses Hotel but left after four because we'd had enough. The breakfast felt stingy and unwelcoming. There was generic jam in small plastic packets, cheap white sliced supermarket bread, one cherry tomato each, a thin slice of Lebanese cucumber, a tiny sliver of cheese, and a hard-boiled egg with no alternatives. When we asked for a soft-boiled egg, we were told to wait until the next day. The following morning, the owner's partner asked what we meant and said she didn't know how to make one. There was also one small cheese pastry that had been frozen before. The Greek yogurt and fruit were decent, but the meal overall seemed unimaginative and lacking generosity. The hotel has seen better days. The balcony furniture was rusty, the skirting boards were dilapidated, the toilet seats were loose, and the AC badly needed its filters cleaned. Moldy grout in the shower was off-putting. The AC also blew straight onto the bed, making it hard to sleep comfortably. Our interactions with the host were unpleasant as well, and didn't improve the stay.

Nikos is such a friendly host and gave us helpful suggestions about the area. The breakfasts are amazing, and the hotel is always clean and comfortable. This was our second stay, and we were already sad to leave again. It's a true gem and, to us, the best hotel in Methoni. Stay here, you won't regret it!

I slept really well in the large, comfortable bed, and the room was perfectly clean, with nice paintings on the walls. The hotel feels cozy and stylish, with lovely flowers and plants in the garden. Having a delicious breakfast there made me feel at home, and Nikos, the owner, was kind and very helpful. A lovely place for a seaside holiday. I’d definitely come back. Thank you very much!

The owner and his family were incredibly kind, and the rooms were cleaned every day. We couldn't even eat half of what was served at breakfast, which was the best we've tried in a hotel like this. The location was perfect, just a two-minute walk from the village center. After more than 10 years of traveling around Greece, this is probably the best hotel I've visited in this budget category. Everything beat our expectations, and I honestly can't think of anything we disliked. It was exactly what we want from a vacation stay, a full 100 out of 100.
