Bard De Sol

The hotel is fairly new and looks appealing, but it comes across online as more luxurious than it is. For the price, the service and amenities fell short compared with other hotels we’ve stayed in. The advertised outdoor pool is only a tiny plunge pool beside the small dining area, with no loungers at all. If your room doesn’t have its own pool, there’s nowhere to relax poolside, which is disappointing at this price point. The restaurant is overpriced. Staff are consistently friendly, but service stays at the bare minimum, with no personal suggestions or real effort to improve the stay. There was no proactive message before arrival to arrange a transfer. The shuttle from the port, just 1.8 km away, costs €30. At check-in we mentioned it was our first visit, but nobody offered tips for activities, restaurants, or the area. In the bathroom there’s little space for towels, and the whole floor gets wet after a shower. The minibar had just two bottles of still water. Aircraft noise throughout the day also took away from the relaxing atmosphere.

The adjoining door was the reason I’d hesitate to recommend this place. It offered no sound privacy at all, and we could hear everything from the next room, including morning phone alarms, conversations, bathroom sounds, and bed noises. The other guests weren’t being loud; it sounded like they were trying to be quiet, and they could probably hear us too. At this price and quality, that needs to be fixed. Otherwise, the hotel made a great first impression with its stylish design, friendly staff, and nice breakfast options. Our room was beautiful and spacious, with its own pool and kitchen. Without the sound coming through the door, the stay would have been great and I’d recommend it.

We came to Bard de Sol from 12-15 June and the setting was visually stunning, but the hosting left us disappointed after the high hopes we’d built from other reviews. We knew check-in was at 3pm when we arrived at 12 PM, and the staff stored our bags and offered the reception area, gym, or a chance to explore town. That was appreciated, but the room wasn’t ready until sometime after 3, with no updates in between. We weren’t expecting miracles, just a little care and communication while waiting tired and early. The website and menus said the restaurant opened at 12PM, but there was no chef on site until 3 PM. We were sent to a tavern down the hill, which we later found out didn’t open until 4 PM, so we were left hungry and exhausted with nowhere to go. The reception staff were friendly, but the overall welcome felt impersonal and unprepared. Elena at the restaurant was a bright spot: warm, welcoming, and genuinely kind, quite a contrast with the rest of the experience. The property has potential, but basic service and thoughtful hosting were missing.

A laid-back luxury hotel with stunning views, lovely rooms and huge showers. The gym is awesome, the food is great, and it feels exclusive.
