Hotel Tigaki's Star

The pool is huge and there were very few guests using it. For the price, I'd definitely recommend the place. It feels like a four-star hotel, though some spots, especially the doors, drains and corners, can be really grubby. It doesn't need a complete overhaul, and those things didn't actually disturb us.

The service was excellent, and we really liked the pool and breakfast, which included some local goods. The rooms were good, though after cleaning there was an unpleasant smell. The hotel has a lovely traditional Greek charm and suits both couples and families. It's in a quiet part of Tigaki, right by the salt lake and close to the beach, with the strip only a five-minute walk away. I'd highly recommend it for a typical Greek experience in a good location at a reasonable price.

The way I was treated after reporting the room Wi-Fi problem was the worst part of my stay. One manager said the whole island had no Wi-Fi, even though it worked perfectly at reception, then told me guests should be grateful it was free because the hotel could charge extra. When I asked her to check my cancellation terms, on the day I arrived, she told me I could go to another hotel but wouldn’t get a refund. She could have looked into early cancellation options. She was bullying me and seemed to enjoy it; the two reception staff beside her looked embarrassed and avoided eye contact. There was no Wi-Fi in my room, so I had to go outside near reception to connect or make a call. The experience spoiled my impression of the hotel and, as this was my first visit to Greece, of the country too. It was such a contrast with how I’d been treated in hotels and restaurants in Turkiye just a couple of days earlier. I can’t believe this kind of rudeness and lack of professionalism is allowed in hospitality.

We had a lovely view of the pool, mountains, and salt lake from our room in the main building. The shower over the bath was a bit cramped, but manageable. The location was peaceful while still close to everything. We stayed for two weeks in September 23 and had no complaints. The reception team were pleasant and helpful, the pool and bar were great, and the food was very good. The woman working behind the bar was especially nice. When the air conditioning couldn’t be fixed, they moved us to another room. Breakfast was decent too, though I’m not sure what more some people expect.
