The beach is only about five minutes away, and the little holiday houses sit in a lovely garden filled with local plants. We had excellent hospitality and discreet service.

Nelly was wonderful, always ready to help, and even surprised me with fresh eggs one morning. I had a lovely stay at Patriko in early June and would happily return next year. The traditional apartments are very well kept, with a fully equipped kitchen and a balcony upstairs that looks out over the island. Flowers and plants all around give the place a rural feel, while the pool and peaceful setting make it a relaxing spot on Skyros. I’d recommend it to anyone considering a visit.

The owner was so kind and helpful throughout our stay, even holding an umbrella over us while we carried our bags to the car in the rain. She also found an extra mattress for me to use downstairs because I have trouble sleeping. The apartment was spotless, with fresh towels and sheets regularly, a comfortable large bed upstairs, and two pull-out beds or mattresses below. One is quite small, so probably only suitable for a child up to around six or seven. To keep the upstairs bedroom dark and cool, you have to close the door at the top of the stairs, leaving children downstairs in the kitchen area with access to both doors, though the doors can be locked. The rustic apartments surround an inviting shaped pool. There’s a small beach a few minutes down the road and several restaurants within walking distance. On our first morning the owner brought us honeycakes and fresh figs for breakfast. We had a lovely stay and would recommend it.

The apartment was clean and the staff were friendly, but its size and layout were far from what the website described. We booked in August expecting 85 square metres and two bedrooms. It was actually about 55 square metres, with the supposed second bedroom in the living room, and it was too small for us. After the owner mocked us for not knowing what we were talking about or having a measuring tape, we used an app to measure the place. When we raised the issue, the owner was extremely unfriendly. We left and received no refund.
