Hotel Byzantino

This was the worst room I've had across all the countries I've visited. It smelled bad, had cockroaches running around, and was filthy with dust and dirt. The mattress was in terrible shape and not comfortable at all. The ceilings were low enough to make me worry about hitting my head, and the stairs inside had no warning signs. The walls were covered in moisture.

This was the worst hotel experience I've had. The room looked nothing like the photos and was very dirty. There was a strong smell that seemed to be covered up with perfume sprayed on the bedsheets, and the bathroom smelled even more of damp. We found two big cockroaches, and my husband's back was covered in bed bug bites. I couldn't sleep all night because I felt insects biting me, and the cockroaches made me anxious. The breakfast was awful. I wouldn't recommend staying here for any reason.

The rooms are in different locations, but they were great, and breakfast was good. The staff also suggested restaurants and places to visit. Parking could be better. With so many tourists, arriving after 3 pm makes it hard to find a spot near the castle. You need to walk up to the hotel's reception in the castle, where they'll bring your luggage to your room.

My daughter hurt her arm when the bed broke on the first night, and she was too scared to try it again after it was fixed. The hotel said they were sorry, but it happened because of their negligence. The room also felt run down compared with the pictures. There are two huge air conditioners blowing hot air across the tiny patio seating area, and getting to the room means climbing an extremely narrow spiral staircase. The bathroom drains smell bad, and carrying luggage down the tight stairs when leaving felt dangerous. They may help carry bags if someone is available at the time. I left generally unimpressed.
