Cyrenia Guesthouse

I was welcomed very kindly, and it was quiet. The guesthouse is nice and friendly, and cheap for the city, right in the centre of the new town. I had room n° 5, with a big balcony on two sides, a table and chairs, a fridge, and a boiler with coffee and tea. Arrival was possible until 23:00.

The bed was very comfortable, and the staff were lovely. My room had a kettle, fridge, and toiletries. Breakfast was simple but lovely, with freshly squeezed orange juice, deli meats, cheese, cereals, yogurt, fresh fruit, and a croissant.

What an awful experience. There was nobody around to give basic information about the place. For example, the manager could have told us there was a bus every 20 minutes, so we didn’t need to walk 30 minutes uphill to the castle. The manager knew two kids would be sleeping in the beds, but said nothing about the cables hanging over them. They also charged about $200 a night without breakfast. After we’d paid and left, we had to make a special request to get the legal receipt issued.

Theodora was friendly and welcoming, and the location was good, around a 20-minute walk from the old town entrance. There’s parking behind the guesthouse. We loved our stay, and the extra cost to upgrade to a sea-view room with a huge balcony was worth it.
