For value for money, this accommodation is underrated. A hard-working family runs it with Swiss efficiency and Greek cheerfulness. The complex is spotless and well maintained, in a garden full of basil and flowers, and there's comfortable parking for every room. We especially appreciated the sound-, heat-, and insect-insulating frames, the bathroom with a bathtub, a functional curtain, and a soft-close toilet lid at last. The air conditioners are top-notch and silent, the WiFi impeccable, the balconies have views, and the mattresses are super comfortable. Breakfast is a hearty buffet by the sea, with fresh homemade cake from the hostess. Above all, the hosts make you feel sincerely welcome. The hard pillows were a downside, as were the countless sphinxes sharing our breakfast with a view of the Laconian Gulf at the end of August. Of course, we could have eaten in the room. The location isn't winning prizes for picturesqueness or closeness to points of interest, but that's not the Maravelia family's responsibility.

The location is the only thing worth it, and the rooms are clean. The kitchenette in the room wasn't usable, though, and the usual smiles aren't enough to make someone hospitable. I asked Mr. Maravelias for a double, clarifying that I meant "2 singles," but he prepared a double bed. When I complained, he answered rudely, took the money, and offered no apology or manners. If someone wants to do this job, they should know what "double" means, or ask other professionals and reconsider if they assume it means a double bed in their village. Mr. Maravelias is not a professional.
