The breakfast was very good, and our host was lovely. The building feels authentic and beautiful, with the spirit of Zagori all around. The facilities are excellent, too. There’s a mountain view from the nice, compact swimming pool. I’d love to come back!

The pool looked much larger in the photos. Our room was very hot, with no air, and grill smells came in both morning and evening. The shower was old, and the staff weren’t friendly. Breakfast seemed to have been made the day before, and one rice pudding cup had mold in it.

From the balcony, the mountain view can really restore your spirit. The rooms facing the mountains are especially lovely. It’s a romantic hotel and a wonderful place to take in the beauty and peacefulness of Zaguria.

The rooms look beautiful, but the bathrooms are tiny, and the showers are so cramped you can hardly move. They also weren’t maintained very well. I’d eat breakfast somewhere else. There wasn’t enough food: one cup of omelet, two pieces of tomato, one cucumber slice, four olives, and four cups of cereal.

We picked Monodendri off the map and were pleasantly surprised by the village. It sits beside the picturesque Vikos gorge, amid stunning mountains and historic villages. The area draws Greek tourists, though it feels a little isolated without a car. We spent five days visiting the small local museum, exploring the gorge, and eating authentic Greek food at a good selection of restaurants. Monodendri is itself a historic village, in a region with several others.
