Hotel Cooee Albatros

The hotel's location deserves a 10 out of 10, and the pool was very nice. The rooms were clean, though the beds felt like rocks. We became ill and suspect food poisoning. The food itself was poor, and there was only one evening show during our seven nights. We booked an all-inclusive week through tui, which said drinks were included except cocktails and that there would be evening shows. In practice, the included drinks were beer, wine, brandy and ouzo, along with some soft drinks, tea and coffee. The hotel also had a beach bar open to the public, and paying guests seemed to get much better treatment than all-inclusive guests. I wouldn’t return, and Tui hasn’t advertised the hotel accurately.

The beach is fantastic and just a few metres from the pool, in an incredible location. Staff were very friendly, and we appreciated being able to stay in our room after checkout because of our late flight. The pools were nice, though the smaller one had quite a few insects by the end of the day. Sunbeds by the pool cost extra, but it was never too crowded. I was in room 102. The bed was good and the AC worked really well. There are mosquitoes, but they’ve installed a net, which was a good touch. The room was fine overall, though a bit old. The bathroom could use some renovation: water sprayed everywhere from the shower, and the curtain made it feel very cramped. Since 102 is beside reception and the room isn’t very soundproof, we could hear people talking until 2am. I didn’t mind too much. The food was average. The bacon could have been crispier, and lunch could have had more variety. The bistro beside the pool was a much better option for lunch. For me, the hotel and rooms are a three, but the area and friendly staff bring it to a low four, somewhere between three and four stars.

It's a beautiful beach, with shallow, crystal-clear water. The staff were lovely, always smiling and saying hello. We weren't keen on the evening meals, which were much the same most nights. The area is very quiet with little to do, so it’s a great choice if you want a relaxing holiday. Just remember to budget for pool sunbeds, since you have to pay to use them.

The one thing we really liked was Elvis cocktail bar next door. Reception gave good advice, and the bar and waiting staff who cleared plates were polite and friendly. Still, I wouldn’t recommend this place. We felt let down and would spend extra somewhere with better facilities. It’s at the lower end of three stars. The rooms are dated and damaged, with chipped furniture, an old fridge and a mattress as hard as a rock. We slept badly all week, and the bathroom drains smelled. Meals were poor and repetitive at breakfast, lunch and dinner. Other reviewers are right that service seems to favour guests who aren’t all-inclusive. As all-inclusive guests, we didn’t really get served. The facilities didn’t match what the website offered. There was no entertainment, only YouTube music at the bistro. The lobby bar was closed, there was no jacuzzi, and the pool had a green ring around its edge. The children’s area was just a metal slide and two spring riders. You have to hire the sunbeds both at the small beach area and beside the pool, and there were no daytime snacks. A beeping noise from the pool filter carried on day and night, making it hard to relax. There were mosquitoes everywhere and wasps too. I know that isn’t the hotel’s fault, but be ready for bites and some wasp swatting.
