Flamingo Apartments was just what we needed after everything going on with Covid 19. We’ve stayed before and will definitely come back with family or friends. Our double room was spotless and comfortable, and the homemade food was superb. It’s a great family-run place to stay when visiting Corfu Island. Thanks again to Dora and her family for looking after us so well. We had a fabulous stay in Sept 2020.

Dóra and her daughter are kind and helpful, a full 10/10 for them. The accommodation and service I paid for were poor, though. People seem to value Dora rather than the hotel or the service. The location gets 0: it’s beside a busy, terribly noisy road with no sidewalk, which wasn’t mentioned anywhere. The booking listing said the room had a hair dryer and shower gel, but neither was there. We didn’t get the first cleaning and fresh supplies until day five, and there was no water in the fridge. Breakfast was a 3/10: every day it was a warm sandwich, a boiled egg, 1 dl of juice and 3in1 coffee. In 2023, that’s not a real service. There were only three rooms, yet breakfast took 40-50 minutes every morning. It seemed too hard to prepare it for just the three rooms. I’ve been to Greece many times and used to live there, and I’ve never had service like this. I understand the economic crisis and cutting costs, but a lack of guests isn’t my fault. I paid for a service I didn’t get. After checkout they charged another 3-4 euros, though Booking said I’d paid everything, including the tourist taxes. I’ve never had those kinds of taxes with Booking. It’s only 3-4 euros, but in season they could collect 600-800 euros or more. We rented a car from moraitikai. When Vasilis asked if we had a car, we said we’d rented one from moraitika, and he became rude and angry. Come on.

Dora and Vasilli made us feel welcome from the start. Their children, Melina and Pavlo, were some of the most polite, helpful and hardworking children I’ve met in a long time. They helped serve Vasilli’s fresh home cooking and clear tables in the evenings. Their dog Nikki was adorable, clever and very well behaved. Dora and Vasilli also offered lifts to town, the nearby beach or restaurants when guests had no transport. You only had to ask if you needed anything. This isn’t the place for daily room turn-downs or cleaners picking up after you. Instead, there’s a clean room, good food and a warm, slightly crazy family atmosphere. Breakfast is a relaxed continental meal, and getting up late is fine. Dora even arranged a 7 am breakfast for our departure day while also getting two children ready for school. Vasilli’s generous evening dinners were three courses, with a fresh main bought that day, Greek salad and lovely bread. The menu changed each day. Dessert was mostly fresh fruit with Greek yogurt, local honey or sauces, if you still had room after those portions. We spent many evenings chatting and laughing with Dora and Vasilli. Our ground-floor apartment overlooked the spotless pool. The apartments are beside a main road, but it didn’t disturb me. When our transfers got confused the day before we left, Dora called the company and sorted it out faster than we could have. I was sad to leave and wanted to stay longer. Flamingo Apartments has many guests who return and book directly, which says a lot. If I come back to Corfu, I’ll only go if I can stay here. Highly recommended.
