Karaoulanis Beach Aparthotel

The staff and hotel workers were extremely pleasant and professional, and we have no complaints about the clean, tidy rooms. The hotel is right by the seashore, but it spreads over several levels, so check which section you’re in if you’re traveling with older people. The first section is close, and that building has an elevator. The second section has only stairs, so be ready for a bit of a workout 😀. The pool and restaurant weren’t operating. Across the road, the beach is pebbly and rocky, so beach sneakers would be useful. The sea can stay calm for a few days, then have waves for three days, with no set pattern. The tourist tax is 1.5 euros per person per day, which is very affordable. The city is lively, with plenty of restaurants, bars, and cafés. You can’t help looking out at the vast sea, and the sunrise is unbeatable!! 😀

Papa Nero beach is right next to the hotel, and the staff and receptionist were awful. They just chatted with each other and stayed on their phones instead of helping. The pool and blue bar weren’t open for some reason. You need to take an elevator to get up because the hotel is so high, then climb a lot more stairs to reach the higher part.

The terrace looks out over Papa Nero beach, with a magical view and the waves always audible. But getting to the room means climbing more than 100 steps, with no way around it. After a few days, it turns into a fitness routine and might even help your fitness. The room wasn’t in perfect shape, and the kitchen was short on dishes and glasses, especially pans. The stove worked properly and the bathroom was okay. During our 11-night stay, cleaning, rubbish removal, and fresh sheets and towels happened only twice. The hotel pool wasn’t running, and we were told it would open from next year. The restaurant was closed, though you could take away coffee, drinks, a sandwich, or an omelette at reasonable prices. The internet came and went. The TV wasn’t working at first but was fixed. One odd thing: when you turn on the cold water, hot water runs for a while, then turns lukewarm.

We had a very relaxing stay in an apartment with an amazing view. It was clean, fully furnished, and cleaned every day. There’s also a stove with pots, plates, and utensils if you want to cook and eat in. The owner and staff were really kind and helpful, and the beach is lovely and close to the hotel.
