Pansion Martha

We stayed at Pansion Martha in a triple room on the second floor. The room was on the small side and some of the furniture looked a little old, but as there were only two of us, we used the spare bed like a wardrobe since storage was limited. Everything was spotless, with daily cleaning while we were out and fresh towels each time. For the price, this was the best choice we could have made. Breakfast was included and became something we looked forward to every morning on the sea-facing terrace. Our host cooked something different each day, with plenty of variety: eggs in different styles, homemade sweet and savory dishes, bread, butter, cheese, meats, vegetables, olives, honey, jam, and coffee of our choice. Everything was delicious. The hosts were wonderful, warm, attentive, and happy to help, whether suggesting nearby beaches or local shops for olive oil and other Pelion specialties. The pansion sits right by the water. We could see and hear the sea from bed each morning, and the balcony had a stunning view. Agios Ioannis is one of the larger villages on Pelion’s eastern coast, with restaurants, supermarkets, bakeries, shops, and fresh local fruit. The beach options nearby are gorgeous and mostly wild and natural, with few or no sunbeds or umbrellas. We especially liked Milopotamos, Fakistra, and Plaka. Getting to them wasn’t too difficult, and there’s usually parking nearby. Fakistra is the exception, with parking about a 10-15 minute walk down a steep path to the beach. We also enjoyed the snorkeling, and recommend a kayak tour if the sea is calm. We took a 4-hour guided trip from Damouchari, and it was fantastic.
