Diana Suites

The setting was so peaceful, with a gorgeous balcony outlook across the landscape to the ocean and Zakynthos. We spent 7 nights in Trapezaki at the Diana suites, and I’d happily stay again. The apartments are excellent, with a comfortable bed, a nice bathroom and a kitchenette that works for basic meals. Housekeeping changed the towels, emptied bins and made the beds daily, plus our linen was changed halfway through the week, which was appreciated in the heat. Breakfast is served overlooking that view. Alex and his dad made us feel welcome and prepared good coffee and breakfast. Our basic option was coffee, eggs and a cheese toastie. It usually includes ham, so let them know if you’re vegetarian and they’ll accommodate you. There are other menu choices for an extra charge. The pool is a good size and beautiful, also facing the view. In August, when temperatures reached the late 30s, we really needed it. It’s up a steep hill. Walking down to the Trapezaki supermarket and the Trapezaki Restaurant takes about 10 minutes; coming back up took us around 20, and we’re pretty fit, so expect longer if you aren’t. We didn’t hire a car, and Alex gave us a local taxi number. To explore or reach Trapezaki beach, you do need a car. Whitehawk taxis also run day trips farther afield and were really good if you don’t want to drive. The airport is just a 20 minute drive away. There are plenty of nice places to visit by car or organised trip and lots of lovely restaurants, though only one is within walking distance.

The owners and his father made us feel at home, checking in on us and bringing fresh breakfast each day. On our last evening they even cooked and served a delicious, elaborate meal. The pool was clean and lovely, with comfortable sunbeds and a sea view. We swam there at sunrise every morning. Our apartment was spacious, bright, quiet and clean, with daily housekeeping and a beautiful view of the sea. The small-scale setting was peaceful. It’s also well placed for exploring the island by rental car, with restaurants, a bakery, a supermarket and the beach nearby. We found accommodation, food and drinks here a bit cheaper and better quality than in the more popular areas. The north is beautiful, for example, but more limited and expensive. It’s easy to set off on one or several day trips from here. We stayed at the Diana Suites for two weeks, and I’d definitely return next time we’re on Kefalonia.

Before we arrived, Alex sent lots of local tips for restaurants, wineries and boat trips, and even booked our first night’s dinner. The room was gorgeous, with an amazing view, plenty of space for our 6 nights and kept extremely clean and tidy. Alex’s family made us coffee and breakfast in the mornings, which was fantastic. We had the best stay with Alex and his family. Couldn’t recommend it more.

We woke up to an amazing balcony view and watched the sunset from the jacuzzi. The accommodation is well located for exploring the whole island by car. Staff were helpful and accommodating, and the modern room and facilities were cleaned daily. Would recommend!
