Hilltop Resort

The pool is large and beautiful, easily one of the best parts of the property. The location is handy, though a bit far from the northern beaches. The rooms, especially on the ground floor, could do with some work. Toni was very friendly and helpful, and arranged a poolside party for 30 people by putting us in touch with a catering service. We had a great time and would recommend it, particularly for group stays or events.

The beds were comfortable, and both the view and pool were good. But the rooms felt quite dated and need a refresh. We reported that the microwave wasn’t working, but it wasn’t replaced, and I wonder how long it had been like that. You’ll need a car because nothing is within walking distance. I’m not sure why it’s called a resort, as it’s really an apartment hotel. It wasn’t cheap, and honestly we expected more for what we paid. Kefalonia is beautiful and well worth a visit, though, and we still had a lovely time.

We paid around €100 a night, which felt like really good value. Tony gave us traditional Greek hospitality on a Homeric scale. This is more of an apart-hotel than a hotel, so there’s no restaurant on site, but Tony was happy to help us find anything we needed. The rooms are modern and well equipped, with a fantastic view, while the pool area has a rustic feel overlooking olive groves and the Ionian Sea. A car is a good idea, though you can walk to several very good restaurants and tavernas in the nearby village. It’s about 30 minutes along beautiful, peaceful country tracks, but I wouldn’t recommend doing that in the midday heat.

We booked the whole villa for 19 people, and Tony was great to deal with both before the trip and while we were there. He answered my questions quickly on WhatsApp, arranged our airport transfers and rides to places around the island, and even helped book a yacht trip before we arrived. The rooms were excellent and the pool was fantastic. The resort is remote, which was what we wanted, but taxis were expensive and added quite a bit to the cost. Next time we’d consider hiring a couple of cars. All round, a fantastic stay, and we’d go back.
