Madres Houses

Our ferry was cancelled on checkout day, but when we got in touch, the owner quickly found us another unit and made room for us. She was the sweetest, arrived promptly when we did, and helped with anything we asked. The rooms were very clean, and the location is excellent, just a few steps from the city centre. Those steps are a great photo spot! The woman who looks after and cleans the rooms was lovely too. Really glad we stayed here.

The room was a little smaller than the photos suggested, but still comfortable and cozy. One thing to keep in mind if you sleep lightly: noisy neighbours could wake you, though asking them to quiet down may solve it. The location is great and surprisingly affordable. The owner or team member was very helpful before and during the stay, helping us plan and coordinate, and the staff were great.

The apartment was fine for sleeping, but I wouldn’t plan on cooking or spending much time inside. It has a beautiful view toward the windmill about 50 metres up the street. The old town centre is right down the steps, yet far enough away that its noise doesn’t bother you.

The Manager helped us arrange a taxi to the ferry at no extra cost, which was a lovely end to a stay that helped make our holiday feel perfect. Madres houses is near all the nice places to visit, and the steps even kept my wife and me fit. The surroundings are beautiful. Our room was clean, the hot water was good, and the air conditioner worked well. I’m a very big guy and found the bathroom space okay, even though I’ve seen people complain that it’s small. I also appreciated finding ice-cold drinking water in the fridge and a kettle for my beloved coffee. Thank you, Madres Houses.
