Kyniska Palace Conference & Spa

Kyniska was the name of a Spartan princess from the 5th century BC, and she was the first woman to win at the Olympic Games. The hotel itself has a gorgeous pool and lovely views of Mystras. My room was very large and beautiful, just what you'd hope for at a five-star resort.

On our first day, poor room maintenance led to an incident that could easily have resulted in a lawsuit. The frontline staff did everything available to help, but hotel management was completely absent and there was no sincere apology. That was inexcusable for a place claiming a five-star rating. Health and safety should be an absolute priority for any hotel, and a five-star rating should mean standards far higher than what we experienced. The incident showed operational gaps, along with a clear lack of experience in customer care from the management team.

A peaceful little getaway, and great for families. It felt like a hidden gem, worth every penny and well worth the trip. I understand you can even come spend the day by the pool.

Our room was spacious and comfortable, and the location was excellent with easy parking. The rest of the staff were warm and helpful, though the lady at reception was quite unfriendly when we checked in. The spa was decent, the massages were excellent, and the cocktails at the bar were very good. There were plenty of ants, in the room, around the pool, and even near the bar. The pool itself was small but sufficient. Bar service was great, but letting outside guests walk in to use the pool doesn't feel right for a five-star hotel. We also struggled to communicate because none of the staff spoke anything but Greek. Breakfast was very basic and really didn't meet five-star expectations. We stayed from July 4th to 6th, 2025. Some nice touches, but quite a few details fell short of what you'd expect at this level.
