Porto Bello Design Hotel

We arrived before check-in, when reception was closed, but after I messaged the hotel through the Booking.com app, a staff member hurried over so we could get into our room. He also suggested some good restaurants. The beds were clean and comfortable, and the rooftop of our Superior Family Room with Sea View and Panoramic View had a great outlook over the area.

We stayed in the room called ''New York'', the Superior Family Room with Sea View and Panoramic View. It was tidy and very clean, with the amenities described. The terrace view was stunning and worth the extra cost for this room. Breakfast was very good, and the family running the place were all helpful. We arrived quite late, when parking was a nightmare, and the owner offered to find us a spot using his motorbike. The hotel sits near the top of the old town, which explains the view, though you do have to climb some steps, as the owners mention in the description. I'd happily book again.

The beds were clean, but that was about the only good part, and I wouldn't stay again. The shower was covered in mold, so I didn't use it, and the whole bathroom smelled moldy. Water was leaking from either the sink or toilet, leaving the floor wet and gross. The faucet was loose and looked ready to fall off. The entrance room smelled of candles covering up another odor. The man managing the property was at the hotel next door and wasn't helpful or kind. I wouldn't recommend staying until the owner handles cleaning, repairs, and renovations.

The room was huge and could work well for a family, and the veranda was HUGE, with a view over the port and two of the Venetian fortresses. But the shower was clogged and needs work, and carrying our luggage up all those stairs was a downside. Still, that view!
