Armenistis Apartment 2

We had a terrible experience during our 9 day stay in July 2019. Our original booking was for armenistis 1, but the owner had double booked it and only noticed 2 days before we arrived, after I emailed to confirm our arrival time for a port pickup. After countless emails over 2 days, he made us stay at his Villa Kalypso instead. We asked repeatedly for a solution in town because we had a 14 month old baby and didn't want an isolated place, but he ignored our situation. When we arrived in Paros, he drove us to the villa, where we spent the first 3 nights while other guests used Armenistis. Villa Kalypso was isolated, 2 km outside Naousa, with no signs showing how to get there. When we tried to go out at night, we got lost among similar roads in a dark, deserted mountain area and had trouble finding our way home. There were no shops or restaurants around. The owner, Stavros, had his mother make pasta for us as compensation, but with nowhere nearby to eat, we felt pretty much forced to eat food prepared in circumstances whose hygiene we couldn't verify. The kitchen table was a loose wooden board on a couple of metal legs, not secured together. It was so easy to move that it nearly fell on our daughter's head while she played nearby. The west-facing master bedroom had no AC and got very hot, so we couldn't sleep comfortably. After 3 days, we were finally moved to armenistis apartment. It was far from the luxury place advertised: the bathroom was run down, with old fixtures and a mouldy shower curtain. The living room had limited lighting; the master bed was old; bedroom lamps were broken; the kitchen mats were old and dirty; and there were loose cables beneath the TV. There were no full-length mirrors or basic supplies like garbage bags, toilet paper and paper rolls. We had to buy things at the supermarket ourselves. We were also told Stavros only cleaned every 2 days, not daily, so we ended up cleaning sand and taking care of full rubbish bins ourselves. The apartment is basic, though the location is good and you can walk to Naousa port. The July and August rates are expensive and, in my view, don't reflect the accommodation or what the owners provide. We were left bitterly disappointed by the way we were treated. We definitely don't recommend this place unless they make serious efforts to change how they treat guests, act professionally, take responsibility for their mistakes and upgrade the apartment to match its luxury rates.
