Euphoria Chora Naxos

We loved our winter stay at Euphoria Chora. The apartment was spacious and well kept for my family, and the owner was very hospitable. Check-in and check-out were both simple. I highly recommend staying here in Naxos.

We were disappointed by this condo-style rental. It looks stylish, but comfort and upkeep didn’t match what we expected for the price. The shower wand had nowhere to hang, so you had to hold it the whole time, and there were no hooks for bath towels. A bright green indicator light high on the vaulted ceiling stayed on. The photos also showed plants and homey touches that were missing during our stay, leaving the modern design stark. Some wall art, comfortable indoor furniture, and cushions for the plastic patio chairs would help. There were bigger issues too. Ants were never properly dealt with, and cleaning was poor: some areas weren’t clean when we arrived, and the service during the stay was unreliable. There was little privacy in a place advertised as a Family villa, with a shower window and glass loft walls. The location is on the edge of town in a residential neighborhood, not the historic center, which is a 10-15 minute walk away. We walk a lot, so it was manageable, but it wasn’t central.

The room we had booked wasn’t available when we arrived, and the suite offered instead was nice but much too large for us. We were moved the next day and were happy for a while, but then found the suite hadn’t been cleaned properly. A towel and pillowcase were dirty with makeup and marks, and there were long black hairs on the bedding and on plates stored behind the bed. We asked for fresh towels, a clean pillowcase, and hand wash because the dispenser was empty, but none of it was provided. After we left, we contacted the owner about a small refund. They offered 25% off a future stay, which we didn’t find acceptable. It’s beautifully designed, but for what you pay, it felt like style over substance, and we had a mixed experience.

The room itself was nice and looked like the photos, apart from a few staging decorations, and it was within our budget. The location, though, wasn’t ideal for us. It was at least a 15-minute walk to a decent restaurant or the nearest walkable beach, and taxis beyond that were very expensive. Personally, I wouldn’t stay here again mainly because of where it is. A few practical things caught us out. The email says the remaining balance is due in cash at check-in, after a deposit is charged to the card on file. I missed that detail, so we had to text to arrange for someone to collect the cash. Also, there are several hotels called Euphoria. Make sure your taxi goes to Euphoria Suites, not Euphoria downtown. The room had a menu for Nobell 22 nearby. We got takeaway there on our first night because we were too tired to go farther, and wouldn’t recommend it. This is more like an apartment than a hotel. A woman met us when we arrived by taxi, showed us our unit, and said someone would come by with more information. He did, and gave us a number to text with problems. There’s no front desk, despite how it’s advertised. When we had trouble with the sinks and hot tub, we went looking for one, couldn’t find it, and texted the number. We were left on read. A woman came to clean the rooms each day, which was the most hotel-like part, but she didn’t knock before entering. Our hot tub was cold on the first day, even though it showed 34°C. We thought the temperature sensor might be broken. We turned it up as high as it would go on day two, and it became warm enough to enjoy, but it took hours. We were told it heats by about 1 degree an hour, so switch it on before heading out for the day.
