Studios Simos

For the price, the rooms were generally good and the location was great, but the service was seriously lacking. The WiFi could also be better. I booked six nights at the studio. On arrival, I was told I'd have to spend the first night in one room, then move to another. I tried to object, but the woman didn't understand. I could bring my things down in the morning, but couldn't stay in that room because they needed to clean it first. I left my bags and some groceries in the fridge, which she saw me do. When I returned a couple of hours later, the fridge was empty. I tried to ask her about it, but she didn't understand then either. They kept my passport so I'd remember to pay at the end of the stay. An hour after I paid, the hotel called to say they'd forgotten to return it. I was five minutes from boarding the ferry, so I had to miss it on purpose and buy another ticket for five hours later. Even if the price might tempt you, I wouldn't recommend staying here.

We enjoyed the room and our stay. It was well equipped and clean, and although we didn't ask for service, staff always checked whether we needed anything. The area was quiet and away from the bustle of the center, but still a short walk from both town and the beach. I'd book here again if I came back.

The room was OK if you're planning to spend your days out. It had a fridge and kitchenette for making breakfast, but the shower curtain was too short and left the bathroom like a swimming pool. The AC didn't work properly, the towels weren't clean, and using the AC flooded the terrace. We left feeling VERY uncomfortable and hope this helps others avoid the same experience. We booked Simos Studios through Booking, where it was listed as Simos Luxury Apartments, and chose it based on the reviews there. We didn't check Google reviews, and regretted that. On arrival, the host offered us a larger apartment for three days without saying it would cost 40 euros extra per day. She only mentioned the extra charge when I asked directly. Since we were staying five days and didn't want to move our things after three, we politely declined. After a full day out, we came back to find the terrace doors wide open, probably left that way by the cleaning lady. There was enough space between the terrace and the street for someone to get through, so we felt our things could have been taken by someone with bad intentions. We felt unsafe and complained to Booking. They contacted the host to try to find a solution, but apparently she wasn't willing to offer compensation. She then called us and was quite impolite and arrogant, which isn't how you want to be treated on holiday. After we left, Booking emailed to say that the host had reported our stay as cancelled and claimed we hadn't stayed there at all. I replied that we had. Because she cancelled it on Booking, we couldn't leave a review there, which may explain why there are only good reviews on Booking. We suspect she did this to avoid paying commission to Booking. Overall, NOT a pleasant stay.

The owner refused to refund the difference when we asked for the room price discrepancy back, saying our room was OK anyway. We had paid for a “luxurious” room but were given a budget one. When we raised it, the owner became abusive in messages. The rooms were tiny, not particularly clean, and weren't cleaned every day. Sheets and towels were rarely changed. It was noisy all night, with youngsters coming and going and slamming doors. One night they threw bottles off the balcony. When we raised our concern about the broken glass, the owner told my husband to punch them. That wasn't the answer we expected at all.
