Melachrini Apartments

The area is quiet and the free sunbeds were included with our booking. The older woman and the young woman were friendly, though the man who handed over the keys wasn't. We stayed five days in room 15 with two adults and a toddler, and it felt far too cramped. The storage was tiny, really only useful for one person, so we were living out of our suitcases. We had to ask for pans and forks, and the wall was peeling away from the ceiling. The Wi-Fi was weak, like elsewhere in Greece. It was okay, neither great nor terrible.

I barely slept because the noise carried straight through the walls. I could hear someone snoring in the neighbouring studio, and other guests complained too. Some said their air conditioning was broken for days, while others had broken balcony doors or rooms where people passed by frequently. The four-person studio we had was tiny, with just two double beds, a very small bathroom and a narrow balcony. Four people couldn't fit inside or out there together. The kitchen was old and cramped, with only a few dishes and one of its two burners not working. The garden was full of mosquitoes, and the owner watered it in the middle of the day or mowed the lawn even when guests were using it. The owners were quite rude. There was no cleaning service, so we changed the sheets and cleaned the room ourselves, then had to tidy up before checkout at 9 a.m., which is very early. For what it offers, the price is far too high.

The hosts were lovely, and there’s a pleasant garden where kids can play. The villa is right by the beach, on the front row. Our room had towels, a small kitchen and free air conditioning.

We found it clean, with very nice staff, and it’s right on the beach. A really good choice for a family holiday.
