Armonia Hotel

We're on day seven of a ten-day trip, so we've had plenty of time here to form an opinion. The loungers are among the best I've used, with thick cushions and a really solid structure. The rooms are clean and comfortable, and beds are made daily. Towels can be changed each day if you ask. If you leave them hanging, they'll leave them until you're ready, and you can always request extras. The hotel is lovely, but feels more like a stylish home than a hotel. Peter, the owner and host, has been great to be around, very accommodating and easy to ask for anything. The food is great, and there's a wide drinks selection at very reasonable prices, without the inflated hotel charges you often find elsewhere in Europe. The location is fab, right by the sailing boats and less than five minutes on foot from Nidri itself. We have a sea-view room, so our view is of the sea in front and the mountain skyline behind.

The location is good, and the views are nice. My room was a good size, but in my opinion it wasn't cleaned beyond getting fresh towels and linen. The bed slats broke in several places, every day, and the fridge was tiny and noisy. A beach towel blew off our balcony and another guest apparently took it. When I asked to borrow a hotel towel, Peter's communication and customer service felt lacking. Those views and the location were the only relatively good things about this place.

We had a fantastic holiday, with temperatures around 35 degrees even in mid-September. The Armonia looks out over the yachts, and shops, bars, restaurants, boat trips and boat hire are just a few minutes away. There's also a fabulous beach about a 15-minute walk from the hotel. Peter, the owner, and his bar staff Alison and Emilia were helpful and accommodating; nothing was too much trouble. The kitchen and cleaning staff did an excellent job as well. Breakfast was a very good continental spread, and Peter would cook bacon, eggs and so on if you wanted. Thanks to Peter and the team for everything.

The food was outstanding, especially the mousakka, which was the best I've had. The cocktails were spot on too, and my favourite was the Pina Colada. Armonia is a beautiful boutique hotel with lovely views across the bay. Peter and his team welcomed us warmly and looked after us so well. Make sure you visit, you won't regret it!
